the Club is not to be dissolved. The Boat Club is composed

solely of European Members who find in rowing a most healthy

and economical form of recreation, and I consider that it

would be most undesirable to allow the. Club to becoge extinct

for want of a moderate share of Government support. I may add

that even if the proposed new site is granted, the amalgamated

Clubs will still have to incur very considerable expenditure

probably not less than $35,000, in preparing it to suit their

requirements.

The area of the site is 42,750 Square feet.

At 35 cents this represents a value of $14,962.50; while the value of the,

Crown Rent capitalised at 25 years purchase would produce

(7590 x 25) $14,750. The total value may therefore be placed

at $29,712.50. I propose that the grant shall he conditional

on the ground being used as exclusively for the purposes of

the Club and the Club shall not have power to alienate any

portion of it.
